JOSEPH E. STURLA JR GREENTOWN, PA Joseph E. Sturla Jr., 76, of Greentown, Pennsylvania, formerly of Bayonne, New Jersey died on Saturday, February 19, 2011. Joseph retired after 30 years as a Lieutenant at the Bayonne Fire Department in Bayonne, New Jersey. He was proud of his service to the United States of America in the 10th Mountain Division of the Army. He was a devoted husband for 52 years, loving father, and was an admired father-in-law. Of his many accomplishments, he was most proud of his grandchildren and reveled in his role of being a grandfather. Joe was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed recreational boating, fishing, and hunting. Joseph is predeceased by his parents, Perlina and Joseph Sturla, Sr. and his sister, Marie C. Sturla. He survived by his daughters Linda A. Sturla and husband Christopher J. Sheik of Hillsborough New Jersey and Laura M. Coulter and husband Kelley R. Coulter of Middletown, New Jersey; His four grandchildren, Nicole E. Sheik, Natalie M. Sheik, James J. Coulter and Elizabeth A. Coulter; his brothersand sisters-in law, Gerard and Baraba DeSantis, Frank and Janet DeSantis, and Arthur Castro, Gerald Cammissa, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Throughout his illness, he was supported by his close friends, Stanley and Marie Birch, Ann and Mike Weiss and Jean and Richard Tomlin. He was respected and loved by all whom new him. Viewing will take place on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the John E. Day Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Leo The Great RC Church with interment to follow.
