As you may already know. Hurricane Irene's fury was felt everywhere. PennWood saw its share of damage with sustained heavy rains Saturday night that caused surprisingly deep ruts in our roadways, followed by strong gusting winds most of Sunday that brought trees down on power lines on N. Maple and Lakeview Drives. Trees that fell were not uprooted, but snapped by the intensity of the wind. Those same winds managed to tear apart "F" Dock from the chains mooring it to land. Dockmaster Ralph Chartier sounded the alarm and gathered help from Dale Morris & his son Chad, Bob Oldfield, and Jim Moore. In considerably choppy waters they raced into the water with rope to catch the dock before it slammed into "E" Dock, swam the rope back to shore, attached it to Bob's truck to slowly tow the dock back to position, and secured it to land until Seeley's Marina could be expected today to make permanent repair.
Mike Romeo has also coordinated road repairs and tree removal to be completed as soon as humanly possible.

Currently power is out to PennWood and spotty elsewhere around the lake. PPL is making progress and the hope is power will be restored soon.
